Grant Description
Grants to Idaho nonprofit organizations, health districts, schools, and childcare providers in eligible regions to benefit local residents. Focus areas include health and wellness, school readiness, youth success, and economic stability. Grant funds may be requested for programs in any of the five counties United Way of North Idaho serves (Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, and Shoshone counties).

As in recent years, the focus is to make an impact in the areas of education, financial stability, and health. With that in mind, the grant application and reporting fall within those impact areas, with education split into School Readiness and Youth Success.

  • Education: School Readiness: Helping youth and children achieve their potential. Children (birth through age 5) enter school ready to learn and succeed.
  • Education: Youth Success: Children do well in school, graduate on time, and are ready to succeed in post-secondary education and a career path.
  • Financial Stability: Individuals and families attain financial stability by lowering costs and accessing benefits; individuals attain family-sustaining jobs that offer the opportunity for advancement; individuals have adequate transportation.
  • Health & Wellness: Individuals and families lead healthy lives through access to quality medical services including physical, dental, and behavioral health; prevent and respond to family violence, child abuse and neglect, and suicide; encompasses efforts to create healthy systems and environments.
