Grants ranging from $100 to $15,000 to Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana nonprofit organizations for arts education outreach programs. Interested applicants must contact program staff prior to applying. Funding is intended to support activities that promote equality and diversity through community building and mutual understanding.

A strong commitment is placed on programs and organizations that benefit, encourage, and preserve the rights of individuals, promote equality for the LGBTQ+ community and HIV/AIDS programs.

The Foundation avoids multiple year grants.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants will only be made to nonprofit organizations or those entities that have a 501(C)3 tax status.

Applicants who have received 3 years of consecutive funding may be asked to refrain from reapplying for 1 year.

The B.W. Bastian Foundation only supports organizations who wholeheartedly embrace the principle of equality. As such, each organization must include a statement specifically stating their commitment of equality for all Americans, including the gay and lesbian community in their application.

Geographic Focus:

Primarily, the Foundation provides funding in the Intermountain West region of the United States, which includes Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. The Foundation also funds nationally in the U. S. (those projects of national scope and/or impact).

Typically, proposals are not accepted for building or large capital projects.

Grants are not made to:

- Individuals
- Lobbying, political campaigns, medical research
- Organizations outside of the geographic area with hopes of making their program into a national project
- Film productions, scholarship projects, and capital projects

Unsolicited grant requests are not accepted from any organization. You must first enquire by email or phone. Even if you have received funding from the Foundation, you must first enquire about the possibility of applying for a grant by email or telephone. (Also, if you wish to apply for more grant money than last year's request, or above the Foundation's $15,000 limit, it is absolutely necessary to contact Michael.)

Grant requests are accepted only once in a calendar year from any organization.
